About heart palpitations

The irregularity of the heart rhythm per se usually does no damage to the heart itself. heart palpitations are heartbeats that suddenly become noticeable. Although heart palpitations can be worrisome, they’re usually harmless, since your heart is usually still pumping effectively. In rare cases, heart palpitations may be a symptom of a more serious heart condition, such as an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), that may require treatment.
• Call your doctor for an appointment. Often, palpitations aren’t serious, but they can be related to abnormal heart valves, heart rhythm problems, or panic attacks.
• Always call a doctor if palpitations change in nature or increase suddenly.
Class IV antiarrhythmic drugs, known as “calcium channel blockers.” These medications slow the heart rate by blocking heart cells’ calcium channels (transport of calcium across the cell walls) and slowing conduction at the AV node.
